What to look for after a storm
- Shingles or pieces of shingle in the yard
- Dents in gutters, downspouts, vents or the AC unit
- Dark spots or bruises on shingles where granules were knocked off
- A new water stain inside
- Debris on the roof or a lifted ridge cap
Not every storm damages a roof, and not every mark is damage. We'll tell you plainly if your roof is fine.
Insurance claims: what we do and don't do
We can inspect your roof, document damage with photos, provide a repair estimate, and meet your adjuster at the property if you ask us to. We do not negotiate claims on your behalf, and you are responsible for your deductible.
Beware of anyone who offers to pay your deductible. It's illegal in several states, and it's a sign you're dealing with a storm chaser.
What you'll get
- Photos of every finding
- A written repair estimate
- A plain answer on whether a claim is worth filing
- Temporary tarping if water is coming in
Storm damage questions
Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
Either order works, but an inspection first means you know whether there's damage worth claiming before you open a claim. We'll give you photos and an estimate either way.
What are the signs of hail damage?
Round bruises or bare spots on shingles, dents in soft metals like gutters and vents, and granules piling up in the gutters. Wind damage usually shows as lifted, creased or missing shingles.
What happens if my insurance denies the claim?
You'll still have our written estimate. Depending on the state, you may have a cancellation right after a written denial; we'll point you to the rule that applies where you live.
